Antioxidant Enzyme Activity Assays

Antioxidant enzyme systems that catalyze reactions to balance free radicals and reactive oxygen species include superoxide dismutase and catalase. These form the body's endogenous defense mechanisms to help prevent cell damage caused by free radicals. Excessive ROS accumulation can lead to cell damage, such as damage to DNA, protein and lipid membranes. Creative Bioarray provides the activity determination service of catalase and superoxide dismutase, which aims to assist in the evaluation of the level of cellular oxidative stress.

Antioxidant Enzyme Activity Assays

Catalase Activity Assay Service

Catalase is a ubiquitous enzyme that can destroy hydrogen peroxide formed in the process of oxidative stress. Our catalase activity testing service can measure catalase activity of various samples (including blood, cells and tissues) within one hour. This service is applicable to the detection of plasma, serum, cell lysate or tissue homogenate.

Service description

Theoretically, our catalase detection service has no species specificity and should be applicable to any biological protein sample because they measure enzyme activity rather than protein structure.

At - 80 º C, the longest antioxidant samples should usually be kept for two months, but we recommend testing fresh samples as much as possible to obtain the best results.

We recommend the use of centrifugal ultrafiltration tubes when preparing plasma samples for colorimetric catalase activity determination, as this will remove ascorbic acid and uric acid that may interfere with the determination from the samples.

Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) Activity Assay Service

Antioxidant Enzyme Activity Assays

Superoxide dismutase (SOD), which catalyzes the disproportionation of superoxide anion into hydrogen peroxide and molecular oxygen, is one of the most important antioxidant enzymes. SOD enzymes were divided into three groups: cytosolic CuZn SOD, mitochondrial Mn SOD and extracellular EC sod.

Our superoxide dismutase activity assay service uses xanthine / xanthine oxidase (XOD) system to produce superoxide anion and chromogen to produce water-soluble methyl dye when reduced by superoxide anion. Superoxide dismutase activity was identified as inhibition or reduction of chromogen. This service applies to plasma, serum, cells or tissues.

Service description

Theoretically, our SOD activity test is not species-specific and should be applicable to any biological protein sample, but we recommend testing fresh samples as much as possible to obtain the best results.
