Detection of Rheumatoid Arthritis by Oxidative Stress Status Assessment

Detection of Rheumatoid Arthritis by Oxidative Stress Status Assessment

Due to metabolic reactions and external factors, reactive oxygen species are constantly formed in cells. the antioxidant system damaged by ROS is one of the main causes of cancer and degenerative diseases.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease that causes joint disease. Oxidative stress has been observed to cause tissue damage in RA patients. The 5-fold increase in ROS production in whole blood and monocytes of RA patients compared to healthy subjects suggests that oxidative stress is a pathogenic marker of RA.

Creative Bioarray offers a solution to aid in the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and its progression through oxidative stress status assessment.

Applications of the Solution

Our solution can be used to monitor the preventive effect of multiple antioxidants on rheumatoid arthritis in experimental animals.

Monitoring the dynamics of redox metabolism in experimental animals during the early stages of rheumatoid arthritis.

Detectable Oxidants and Antioxidant Markers in Creative Bioarray' AR Diagnostic Solutions

Several techniques such as lipid peroxidation, protein oxidation, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, catalase activity (CAT), total antioxidant capacity (TAC) activity, and NADPH oxidase activity can be used to measure reactive substances in rheumatoid arthritis. We divided the detectable oxidant and antioxidant markers into seven groups, with more than 30 detectable markers.

Classification Oxidative Stress Biomarkers
Lipid peroxidation (4 markers) Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS)
Malondialdehyde(MDA)
Malondialdehyde-acetaldehyde (MAA)
Isoprostane (F2-I)
Protein oxidation (4 markers ) chlorotyrosine (CT)
Protein carbonyls (PC)
Nitrosothiols (RSNO)
Advanced oxidation of protein products (AOPP)
DNA damage (2 markers ) Micronucleus (MN)
DNA stand breaks (DNA sb)
Urate oxidation (1 marker ) Allantoin (ALLA)
Enzymatic activity (7 markers ) SOD, GPx, myeloperoxidas (MPO), GR, CAT, NADPH oxidase (NADPH ox), and arylesterase (AE)
Antioxidants (6 markers ) GSH, β-carotene (βC), vitamin E (VE), oxidized glutathione (GSSG), SH group and total antioxidant capacity (anti-cap)
Free radical/anions (6 markers) Reactive oxygen metabolites (ROM), H2O2, total ROS, O2∙, ∙OH, and NO∙
