In the presence of a variety of reactive oxygen species (ROS), cellular proteins will be affected by oxidative stress. Depending on the presence of ROS, damage to proteins may occur in the form of nitration or oxidation of various amino acid residues. ROS may also lead to the formation of advanced glycation end products (age) or advanced oxidative protein products (AOPP), both of which are stable markers of oxidative stress.

Creative Bioarray' protein carbonyl determination and protein nitration determination provide a rapid and sensitive method for the detection of carbonyl residues and 3-nitrotyrosine residues, respectively. Both are stable markers of oxidative stress and can be used in convenient Western blot formats and higher throughput ELISA.
Advanced glycation end products detection can be used to measure total age or specific age species as protein adducts. AOPP detection can provide very fast results in a standard microplate reader. Other detection methods of protein damage markers include our BPDE protein adduct ELISA, which can detect BPDE protein adducts quickly and reliably, and our S-glutathione adduct competitive ELISA, which can measure the s-glutathionation of proteins formed in the presence of ROS.
Our protein free radical detection service provides a unique method to measure protein free radicals produced by the presence of ROS and RNS. We use electron spin resonance (ESR) technology to capture free radicals into stable adducts that can be measured by ELISA.
