Urine OS State Assay Services

Creative Bioarray offers a urine test that assesses two markers of oxidative tissue damage. Oxidative stress underlies many common chronic diseases and balance is essential to slow or stop the degenerative process. Test results can indicate the need for dietary and/or lifestyle changes, which can help minimize further oxidative damage. Species testing can help physicians identify the underlying causes and perpetuating factors of many clinical conditions and customize specific treatment plans.

Urine OS State Assay Services

Oxidative stress affects cellular function in many body systems, it is associated with many diseases, including but not limited to

  • Arthritis
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Aging and neurodegenerative diseases
  • Cancer
  • Inflammation
  • Diabetes
  • Autoimmune Diseases

Note: This service is only available for preclinical testing of laboratory animals and is not intended for any clinical medical use.

When Should Oxidative Stress Testing Be Considered?

Our testing services apply to the testing of laboratory animals in preclinical trials. When you wish to test for.

  • The progression of conditions in animal models of overweight, obesity, and diet-related non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and certain cancers.
  • The salvage effect of antioxidants in experimental animals.
  • Disruption of redox homeostasis in experimental animals by oxidizing agents.

Sample Delivery and Assay Protocol Selection Instructions

Sample Delivery and Assay Protocol Selection Instructions

Choosing an oxidative stress analysis starts with your samples. There are many markers of oxidative stress, but some are more easily detected in urine. We have developed a series of sensitive, easy-to-use assays to quantify oxidative stress in urine samples.

Note: Many oxidative stress markers degrade over time, so the best results are usually from fresh samples. For best results on samples that have been frozen for 6 to 24 months, please let us know in advance.

Detectable Biomarkers for Urine Oxidative Stress

DNA / RNA Damage

  • 8-Hydroxyguanosine (8-OHG)
  • 8-Hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdG)

Lipid Peroxidation

  • 8-iso-Prostaglandin F2alpha (8-isoprostane)
  • Malondialdehyde (MDA)
  • TBARS

Reactive Oxygen Species

  • Universal ROS / RNS
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Nitric Oxide

Antioxidants

  • Glutathione
  • Oxygen Radical Antioxidant Capacity (ORAC)
  • Hydroxyl Radical Antioxidant Capacity (HORAC)
  • Total Antioxidant Capacity (TAC)

What can be Expect from the Urine Oxidative Stress Test

Assessment of a patient's oxidative stress status can indicate the need for dietary and/or lifestyle changes, as well as the possible need for antioxidant supplementation. Reducing the sources of oxidative stress while supporting antioxidant-rich foods and supplements can re-establish proper oxidative homeostasis and reduce or prevent degenerative changes that lead to chronic disease.
